Events Weeks 2019 - Manchester

"The Manchester CUs Events Week was called 'Story Manchester’, which involved events each lunchtime at the four universities and a joint event each evening. In addition to these there was a separate international track held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings; each time on a different theme but always with a delicious meal.
Monday got us off to a good start with a combined event with iCafe attracting over forty internationals. The theme was 'Music and Stories of Peace’, with live music and student testimonies followed by a talk by Graham. Wednesday was on the theme of ‘Food and Stories of Fulfilment’, with Sabine giving a talk on the fulfilled life which comes from receiving Jesus into our lives. Regular members of Salford Globe Cafe came to the Friday event which was on the theme of ‘Childhood and Stories of Purpose’ where we both talked on how loving God is the intended purpose of our lives.
After each talk our guests were given the opportunity to ask questions and discuss their responses around their tables. Some great conversations took place and many internationals opened up and asked deep questions. One Chinese teacher said that he was was drawing closer and closer to Jesus, was not quite there yet but wanted to be. Several wanted to be followed up one-to-one. The events were a great opportunity to share the gospel more openly than is usually done in the cafes. It was also so good for our international friends to witness the joy and enthusiasm of the CU members who served them.
It was a privilege for us both to join the CUs, CUGs and other speakers in this week of witness and also to join in their prayer breakfasts each morning.
As Adam Jones, the UCCF NW team leader, said: 'Do please continue to pray for Story Continued; Monday evenings for 4 weeks, with Q/A and a short talk. Students are also being followed up through the many UNCOVER studies taking place. We were also urging the CU students to continue inviting their friends to church this Sunday and beyond.'”
